The lowdown on Pascal Wehrlein
Lee McKenzie's view:
"Pascal Wehrlein was seen as the next big star of F1 when he joined the grid in 2016. He's supported by Mercedes, winning the DTM title with them in 2015, and is looked after by Toto Wolff.
"There is a lot of excitement around Pascal but the fact that Mercedes have chosen to sign Lewis Hamilton until the end of 2018 - and then overlooked him for Valtteri Bottas as a replacement for Nico Rosberg - makes you wonder where he'll go.
"He could step into a team that has a Mercedes engine in the back of their car, like a Force India, but it means his trajectory is not as quick as he would have hoped for.
"He and his Manor teammate Rio Haryanto have been pretty well-matched in qualifying but in terms of race craft Pascal has the upper hand and won Manor's first point in Austria."
One for the future, this Mercedes protege is regarded as one of the big up-and-coming prospects in motorsport.
Already the youngest ever winner and champion in Germany’s prestigious DTM touring car series, Wehrlein made his full F1 bow with Manor Racing in 2016. A move to Sauber for 2017 gives him another season to show what he's capable of.
